Chris has nearly 40 years of experience in logistics and supply chain, spanning the Canadian Navy, municipal government, and the province of Nova Scotia. He is currently focused on modernizing procurement policy to meet today’s evolving demands. Chris is known for championing innovation in public sector supply chain.

Paul Giamber­ardi­no Chief Sup­ply Chain Officer Sta­ples Canada

Paul brings over 20 years of experience leading supply chains across consumer goods, telecom, and healthcare sectors. Known for his strategic thinking and transformational leadership, he has held senior roles at Procter & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, and Rogers.

Murad Al Katib Pres­i­dent and Chief Exec­u­tive Officer AGT Food and Ingre­di­ents Inc.

Murad is a globally recognized agri-food leader who built AGT Foods into a billion-dollar enterprise focused on plant-based proteins. He serves on several national and international boards and is a passionate advocate for sustainable agriculture and inclusive entrepreneurship. His work has earned him numerous prestigious awards.

Fernando brings deep expertise in healthcare finance and procurement, with leadership experience spanning Sinai Health, Cardinal Health, and MDS. Evaluation Criteria

Sup­ply Chain Exper­tise and Lead­er­ship Excellence

• Sup­ply Chain Inno­va­tion and Resilience: This cri­te­ri­on assess­es the cre­ativ­i­ty in approach to a sup­ply chain issue. Chal­leng­ing the sta­tus quo, and find­ing cre­ative solu­tions to com­mon sup­ply chain chal­lenges is demon­stra­tive of busi­ness acu­men. 25% in the over­all evaluation.

• Mea­sur­able Result- Impact: This aspect gauges the rel­e­vant results from the sup­ply chain strat­e­gy or project imple­ment­ed. It con­sid­ers how well the strat­e­gy met the needs of the giv­en sce­nario and their effec­tive­ness in ful­fill­ing the desired out­comes. This cri­te­ri­on has a weight of 25%.

• Adher­ence to Best Prac­tices: This cri­te­ri­on exam­ines the sup­ply chain foun­da­tion­al knowl­edge employed. It assess­es align­ment with indus­try best prac­tices and also the com­mit­ment to con­tin­u­ous learn­ing and adap­ta­tion. This fac­tor con­tributes 10% to the over­all evaluation.

• Stake­hold­er Engage­ment – Influ­ence and Inspire Oth­ers: This aspect eval­u­ates the sup­ply chain indi­vid­ual or team approach to engag­ing oth­ers and dri­ving the strat­e­gy through the team, depart­ment or orga­ni­za­tion. Ele­vat­ing sup­ply chain as a dri­ver of strat­e­gy and influ­enc­ing enter­prise-wide is key indi­ca­tor of lead­er­ship with­in the orga­ni­za­tion. It con­sid­ers how the sup­ply chain dri­ven project con­tributes to the evo­lu­tion of orga­ni­za­tion­al or team cul­ture and pro­motes shar­ing expe­ri­ences and lessons learned. This cri­te­ri­on is weight­ed at 20%.

• Lead­er­ship in Action – Good Judge­ment: This aspect eval­u­ates the individual’s abil­i­ty to make well-informed, bal­anced, and thought­ful deci­sions in com­plex sup­ply chain sit­u­a­tions. It looks at how the per­son applies a com­bi­na­tion of expe­ri­ence, intu­ition, data-dri­ven analy­sis, and eth­i­cal con­sid­er­a­tions to address chal­leng­ing sce­nar­ios. The focus is on the abil­i­ty to weigh mul­ti­ple per­spec­tives, antic­i­pate risks, and act deci­sive­ly to ensure long-term suc­cess and align­ment with orga­ni­za­tion­al goals.

This cri­te­ri­on high­lights the impor­tance of not just mak­ing deci­sions, but mak­ing the right ones, with an eye toward achiev­ing sus­tain­able suc­cess in the sup­ply chain while nav­i­gat­ing chal­lenges. Good judge­ment demon­strates the abil­i­ty to inspire trust, mit­i­gate risk, and dri­ve pos­i­tive change. This cri­te­ri­on is weight­ed at 20%.


Eligibility Criteria
  • Cana­di­an sup­ply chain pro­fes­sion­als from any indus­try, sec­tor, or orga­ni­za­tion are eli­gi­ble to participate.
  • Appli­cants need not be cur­rent NIS­CL members
  • Project scope from an Enter­prise, Busi­ness Unit, Depart­men­tal, Pro­gram, or Project lev­el are eli­gi­ble. The project results/​impact must be rel­e­vant to Cana­di­ans, the Cana­di­an econ­o­my and local consumers/​stakeholders 
  • Mul­ti­ple indi­vid­u­als from a sin­gle orga­ni­za­tion are eli­gi­ble to par­tic­i­pate in the indi­vid­ual awards.
  • Con­sult­ing, Train­ing, or oth­er third-par­ty providers can­not sub­mit nom­i­na­tions on behalf of an orga­ni­za­tion’s Sup­ply Chain team or Individual.
  • All award sub­mis­sions will be assessed by a pan­el of judges assigned to select the win­ner accord­ing to the estab­lished criteria.
  • The out­come of review and judg­ing will be deter­mined by the final score, which indi­cates the short­list­ed nom­i­nees and ulti­mate­ly the award win­ning submission.
  • In cas­es where there is a tie, or mul­ti­ple appli­ca­tions with the same score, the tiebreak­er will involve inter­views to fur­ther clar­i­fy details and refine the scor­ing. Should the tie per­sist, NIS­CL reserves the right to award more than one winner.

  • How will the sub­mis­sions be judged? Sub­mis­sions are blind-reviewed using a weight­ed score­card. Win­ners are deter­mined by aggre­gate scores. In case of a tie, inter­views may be con­duct­ed to refine scor­ing. Final win­ners will be announced at the Novem­ber 13 Gala and pub­lished after­ward.
     
  • What is the Award Sub­mis­sion Process?
    Step 1 – Pay­ment of the appli­ca­tion fee: Pay online. A con­fir­ma­tion email will include your trans­ac­tion num­ber.
    Step 2 – Com­plete the appli­ca­tion form: Use the link pro­vid­ed in the con­fir­ma­tion email and fill out all manda­to­ry fields:
    • Trans­ac­tion num­ber as proof of payment
    • Per­mis­sions from the nom­i­nee and their organization
    • Cor­po­rate Spon­sor val­i­da­tion of results and lead­er­ship behaviours
    • Com­plete all required fields and dig­i­tal­ly sign the submission
  • What if I want to nom­i­nate some­one else? Due to required per­mis­sions and spon­sor val­i­da­tion, nom­i­na­tions must be sub­mit­ted by the nom­i­nee them­selves.
    How­ev­er, you can:
    • Use the refer your col­league” but­ton to send their name and email — NIS­CL will con­tact them directly
    • Pre-pay the appli­ca­tion fee and for­ward the con­fir­ma­tion email with a per­son­al note encour­ag­ing them to apply

General Rules
  • All appli­cants list­ed on any sub­mis­sion agree to the NIS­CL Code of Ethics with the sub­mis­sion of their application.

  • NIS­CL holds the right to dis­qual­i­fy any par­tic­i­pant or appli­cant at any time up to the award pre­sen­ta­tion if they are deemed ineligible.

  • NIS­CL also reserves the right to accept or reject appli­ca­tions, make or can­cel awards, or change dead­lines as nec­es­sary to uphold the qual­i­ty of the NIS­CL Awards and ben­e­fit the sup­ply chain community.

  • If any sub­mit­ted infor­ma­tion is found to be false or mis­lead­ing, NIS­CL reserves the right to rescind an award.

  • Par­tic­i­pants, final­ists, and win­ners will receive pub­lic­i­ty through NIS­CL com­mu­ni­ca­tion chan­nels and exter­nal media. Par­tic­i­pants may also col­lab­o­rate with NIS­CL for addi­tion­al pub­lic­i­ty and fol­low-up events.

  • Orga­ni­za­tions or indi­vid­u­als affil­i­at­ed with the Judges are exclud­ed from eli­gi­bil­i­ty. Judges will declare con­flicts and nom­i­nees will be elim­i­nat­ed from consideration.

  • Nom­i­na­tion fees are non-refundable.
